10 November 2008

As 2008 winds down and people start coming back home I am reminded of the one time of year that really matters. CHRISTMAS!!!
Okay, let's not get ahead of ourselves, but really its almost here and I'm pretty dang excited.
So, the weekend.
The weekend was pretty uneventful except for this movie that I watched. The movie was pretty good and I enjoyed it because of how everything comes together at the end...Don't we all love movies that come together at the end? I mean, what movie that doesn't provide a conclusion at the end in the form of "coming together" have you enjoyed? Okay, the movie was a bit gruesome for me, but that added to the zest and the overall movie-watching experience.

I feel as though a lot of the times we, as Christians, tend to overlook certain things because there are more pressing issues, or so we think. For instance, there are people that would debate feverishly about abortion and homosexuality without regards to those that are going through the struggles. There needs to be a hatred of sin, but there must be a compassion not unlike Jesus gave. How can I be so caught up with arguing the issues when there are people grieving over the effects of these issues. I don't think that we are representing Christ in a way that He is pleased when we go about life in this way. We cannot preach from our pulpit "Love man, hate sin," when we turn it around and our lives prove that we only do the opposite, "love sin, hate man." Even our indifference about our fellow man and their struggles is hatred. Living for myself and for my friends is not different from the lifestyle of a non-Christian. When it comes down it how different are we? If I were observing myself and someone that didn't believe in Jesus I don't think I would see differences in actions. The only difference I would see is that I'm a hypocrite where the non-Christian wouldn't be.
